The Sakhi Sahas Yojana is a significant initiative introduced by the Gujarat government in the Budget for the financial year 2025-26, with an allocation of ₹100 crore. This scheme is designed to empower women and promote self-reliance through several key components:
- Equipment Assistance: Providing women with the necessary tools and equipment to support their entrepreneurial and occupational endeavors.
- Loan Guarantees: Facilitating access to financial resources by offering loan guarantees, thereby encouraging women to initiate and expand their businesses.
- Capacity Building: Organizing training programs to enhance skills and competencies, enabling women to effectively manage and grow their enterprises.
In addition to these measures, the government plans to establish well-equipped working women’s hostels in major cities, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Gandhinagar, with a budgetary provision of ₹69 crore. These hostels aim to provide safe and convenient accommodation for women who relocate for employment opportunities.
The Sakhi Sahas Yojana complements other initiatives such as the ‘Namo Drone Didi Yojana’ and ‘Lakhpati Didi Yojana,’ reflecting the Gujarat government’s commitment to fostering women’s empowerment and self-reliance across the state.
